Synopsis 시놉시스

한국인 여성 영주는 네덜란드인 파트너 레온과의 문화적 차이를 사랑만으로 극복할 수 있을지 의문을 품는다. 많은 다문화·인종 간 커플이 그러하듯, 두 사람도 갈등과 화해를 반복한다.

레온에게는 지극히 당연하고 평범한 모든 것들이 영주에게는 은밀한 불안으로 다가온다. 영주는 유럽에 살며 스스로가 느끼듯, 먼 훗날 태어날 자녀들이 생김새가 다르다는 이유로 차별받거나 사회에서 소외당하지 않을까 걱정한다. 그러나 레온이 이러한 문제에 대해 단 한 번도 진지하게 고민해 본 적이 없다는 사실을 깨달으며 영주의 답답함은 더욱 깊어진다.

어느 날 저녁, 레온의 가족들과 함께한 식사 자리에서 영주는 알 수 없는 언어의 장벽에 막혀 이방인이 된 듯한 외로움을 느낀다. 영주가 점차 고립되어 갈수록 레온 역시 그녀를 위해 무엇을 해야 할지 몰라 난감해한다. 두 사람 사이에 흐르는 침묵 속에서 하나의 질문이 맴돈다. 과연 이들의 사랑은 서로 다른 문화의 거리를 메우기에 충분할까?

A South Korean woman, Young-Ju, questions whether love is enough to overcome the differences she shares with her Dutch partner, Leon. Like many intercultural and interracial couples, they move between conflict and harmony.

Everything that feels normal to Leon becomes a quiet worry to Young-Ju. She wonders if their future children will face discrimination for looking different, or feel excluded from society, like she sometimes does living in Europe. Her frustration deepens when she realizes Leon has never really thought about these things.

One evening, during dinner with his family, she feels like an outsider. Cut off by a language she cannot follow. As she grows more isolated, Leon struggles to understand what he could do for her. In the silence between them, a question lingers: will their love be enough to carry them through the distance between cultures?
