Synopsis 시놉시스

A hitchhike along a new border in eastern Armenia becomes a journey within a human landscape. People try to show us the border and share stories of how it affects their lives. They sing about the soil on the other side and mourn what has been lost. This was once an area where people of different groups lived together, but wars and forced migrations have transformed a “we” into “us and them”. The border is very real and impossible to cross. But it is abstract and invisible in the landscape. Where is it? Is it inside us?

아르메니아 동부에 새로 그어진 국경을 따라 히치하이크 여정을 시작한다. 이 길은 곧 인간의 마음속 풍경을 탐험하는 여정으로 이어진다. 그곳에서 만난 사람들은 국경이 자신들의 삶에 드리운 그림자에 관해 이야기하며, 빼앗긴 국경 너머의 땅을 그리워하며 노래하고, 잃어버린 모든 것을 슬픔으로 토해낸다. 한때 여러 집단이 평화롭게 공존했던 지역이었으나 전쟁과 강제 이주는 '우리'라는 단어를 '우리와 그들'로 쪼개 버렸다. 이 경계는 분명 실재하며 건널 수 없다. 하지만 역설적으로 이곳 풍경 속에서는 추상적이고 보이지 않는 존재다. 과연 경계는 지도 위, 그곳에 있는 것일까? 아니면 우리들의 마음속에 새겨진 것일까?
